Ben C. Gerwick, Inc. is a San Francisco based, internationally recognized consulting firm specializing in the design and construction of major marine structures for more than 80 years. We are expanding our business in the Pacific Northwest and are looking for highly motivated and skilled engineers for our Seattle office. With world-wide experience with design of marine structures including wharves and piers, major bridges, offshore wind-turbine foundations, inland waterways, dry docks, harbor facilities, levees and dams, deep foundations and coastal engineering, we are seeking 3-4 engineers to join our team.

Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Qualifications: 8-15 years experience, M.S. or higher degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering, experience in the design an analysis of foundations for marine and/or transportation structures, experienced in soil-structure interaction analysis, seismic analysis and liquefaction evaluation/mitigation. P.E. or G.E. required. This is a full-time position.
Coastal Engineer
Qualifications: 2+ years of experience, M.S. degree or higher degree in coastal, oceanographic, or civil engineering preferred, excellent oral and written communication skills. Suitable candidates should demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas: design of shore protection structures, rip-rap, breakwaters, rubble-mound structures, assessment of scour, design of scour protection, numerical modeling, littoral transport calculations, assessment of wave heights, currents, wind speeds and associated loads on structures, field investigations, and/or forensic engineering. The position may require some client interaction and occasional field trips.
Professional accreditation or the ability to acquire within 12 months required. Business development skills desirable.Projects vary from feasibility studies to detailed design, focusing on marine engineering for piers and wharves, bridges, inland waterways, tunnels, ocean structures, pipelines, outfalls, and intake structures.
Port and Marine Engineering - Senior Structural Engineer
Qualifications: A minimum of 10 years experience in the design of heavy marine structures including: marine terminals, bridge foundations, water control structures, outfalls and intakes. Prior experience with port and LNG facilities a plus. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for the position plus a successful track record of developing new work. MSc. in Civil or Structural required. PE or SE in the State of California required.
Port and Marine Engineering - Structural Engineers
Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years experience in the design of heavy marine structures including: piers, wharfs, marine terminals, bridge foundations, locks and dams. The ideal candidate would have experience or interest in working with advanced finite element models, soil-structure interaction and seismic design of large structures. MSc. in Civil or Structural required. PE in the State of California is a plus.
Port and Marine Engineering - Geotechnical Engineer
Qualifications: 0-5 years experience, M.S. or higher degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering, experience in the design an analysis of foundations for marine and/or transportation structures, experienced in soil-structure interaction analysis, seismic analysis and liquefaction evaluation/mitigation. Experience with or interest in learning advanced geotechnical finite element modeling is a plus.
Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer
Qualifications: 0-3 years of experience, M.S. degree or higher degree in civil engineering with emphasis in geotechnical engineering, familiarity with foundations design concepts preferred, excellent oral and written communication skills.
